How do you like the Defender LTX? Are they as quiet as the Premier LTX?

sbennett52 My 2017 XT5 tires are literally falling apart. It looks like dry rot but they say they were new when I purchased the car in November of 2016. (3516). The dealer told me that I needed to have them replaced on my next visit. I have more miles than you all have reported (40,000) but I should still get some adjustment if the warranty is 60,000. Should be an interesting discussion next week with my dealer.

Lynn Yes; I am having that problem now. They said the warranty does not cover the tires if the tread is worn.

LGCadillac Regarding tires wearing prematurely.. Has anyone in the group considered filing a complaint on the NHTSA site? With enough evidence of premature failure, GM may have to respond to the concern and stand behind their product. This is clearly a common thread on this site and others in addition to our dealer network. GM does not seem to want to stand on their own merit, maybe they need a little encouragement from NHTSA. Tires are a safety itema nd at 20K miles should be the last thing on our radar for repair. I have owned nothing but GM products. I have three new Cadillac's in my driveway. If buyng new tires at 20K miles is considered normal by GM my thought process will likely change for my next vehicle. When my Bose radio failed in the dash I didn't go to Bose for the replacement. The tires are GM specified, either they didn't specify them correctly or they have an issue with their supply chain that they need to address. This is on GM not us. Check out NHTSA website.

LGCadillac I have a 2017 XT5 with 20K miles. Tires are worn below 4/32. My dealer told me the XT5's are only averaging 25K on a set of tires. If the tire manufacturer warranties the tire for 60K mikes, and they are failing at 20K tells me GM engineering specified the wrong tire for the vehicle. All four of mire tires are evenly worn been rotated at the dealer as recommended. Michelin is pro-rating the tire warranty but with an 18 month old vehicle with 20K miles, this should not be the consumers responsibility. This is the reason for purchasing a new vehicle, to not have maintenance issues in the first 18 months. If the tires were worn uneven or if 2 of the 4 had an issue it would likely be a maintenance issue. Not the case here. My dealer told me I was the third complaint the afternoon I spoke to them. this is a GM issue that they need to address.

KJupiter84 I was also just told by my service technician I would need new tires on my XT5 with my next oil change. My Michelin Premier LTX tires only have 21,000 miles. I called Michelin and was told that if the tires are worn to 2/32" before 60,000 miles, they will give a credit towards new Michelin tires. The service tech just needs to provide Michelin with the information. Hopefully it's as easy as they make it sound. Michelin also recommended the Defender LTX, but the biggest complaint I've seen is road noise. Any feedback on the Defenders would be appreciated. Thanks!

Tire wear

I got the same news on my 2017 XT5 20,000 miles and the dealer said I need to get new tires with next oil change. The Michelin tires on my My old SRX still looked like new at 50,000 miles when I traded it in. I wonder while Cadillac went with an inferior tire?

You probably saved someone here a lot of running around and money at that too. Always helps to check the manufacture warranty for this stuff. Not always will the source selling it to you (Cadillac) outline the details, actually no dealer in my experience has, its not something they're used to. Tire issues aren't that common.... overall.
