Hello from Harrison, Tennessee and thank you for the privilege of participating in this XT5 forum. I hope to find helpful information and to be of help to other owners.
My wife and I purchased our 2018 XT5 on March 31, 2018 from Don Ledford Cadillac in Cleveland, TN. We have been very happy with the car, the purchase experience and service. We have had only one very minor problem with the car. The rubber seal under the front edge of the hood did not fit properly on the passenger side and protruded from the hood. The dealership ordered a new seal and installed it which solved the problem. I especially like the ride and handling of this car which has the performance suspension included in the Premium Luxury trim line.
There are a couple of things I would change if I could redesign this car. I would make the front seats a little large and softer. They are a bit too sporty for me. (The seats in my 2018 GMC Sierra SLT are perfect.) The other change I would like is for the transmission to downshift more readily. There are times when I nudge the accelerator to maintain speed and not much happens except, sometimes, a little bit of lugging sensation. Fortunately, it does not do this often. But if I press harder on the accelerator it will downshift and the engine responds with brisk acceleration.
Before buying the XT5 I drove an Audi Q5 and Q7, a GMC Acadia Denali and a Mercedes GLE 350. The Audi Q5 felt crude compared to the XT5. The Acadia was not as quiet, did not ride and handle as well and had inferior interior materials compared to the XT5. The Mercedes did not drive as well and was not equipped as well as the XT5 although it was priced $8K higher. The driving experience of the Audi Q7 was on par with the XT5 but I prefer the styling of the Cadillac and did not need the 3rd row seating or all wheel drive which contributed to a $12K price differential above the Cadillac. So with those comparisons and having previously owned a 2002 Cadillac DTS that we thoroughly enjoyed, my wife and I decided on the XT5.
